SELECTION NOTE FOR PARTICIPATION OF THE CULTURAL COFFEE / ARTISTIC RESIDENCIES PROJECT - YEAR 2019.
ENTRY PERIOD:
THE CULTURAL COFFEE / ARTISTIC RESIDENCIES IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE FAFE MUNICIPAL CHAMBER, PUBLISHES THE APPLICATION FOR THE SELECTION OF THE CULTURAL / ARTISTIC RESIDENCES PROJECT FOR THE MONTHS: JUNE, JULY AND SEPTEMBER 2019.
- Modality: Visual Arts (graffiti).
- Registration: from 01 December 2019 to 07 March 2019.
I - Event
Select artists to participate as residents with skills in the field of Visual Arts (graffiti). Aiming to democratize and expand their artistic knowledge and provide free access to art for the public. In addition to encouraging and spreading the diversity of styles in this area.
II. Cultural Coffee / Artistic Residences
a) The Café Cultural / Residências Artísticas project is an intervention project in a certain locality that proposes to the artist to reflect on his creation process and his relationship with the public through artistic presentations, teaching and learning. Through new locations, processes and concepts of artistic creation and communication and creation. A stage that proposes to the artist, for a certain period, a departure from his line of creative comfort. An immersion of the resident artist also in the popular, erudite, contemporary culture and local customs of the welcoming city. This immersion will contribute as an inspiring source so that the artist can develop a new work through the process of synergy between the resident artists, curators and residents of the welcoming community of the project. This synergy will be between the understanding of preparation of the projects in advance based on the proposal made by the project organization.
b) The Café Cultural / Residências Artísticas is a project that aims to build a path for artistic / cultural development through spaces of sharing, living, research, experimentation and exchange based on meetings, lectures, workshops and exhibitions, whose domain areas will be artistic areas.
c) The Cultural Cafe / Residências Artísticas is not a business project, of artistic productions. The focus of Café Cultural / Residências is to stimulate the exchange of artists through new forms of creation in partnerships, and to encourage the artist through the interest of the teaching / learning process, through workshops in arts schools, associations, philanthropic institutions and universities. Contributing to a greater cultural contribution to society.
d) The Café Cultural / Residências Artísticas is a platform to encourage and foster the national and international contemporary art of artists through the convergence of actions and thoughts that amplify the formation, reflection, production and criticism in an interdisciplinary way, to offer the public and the resident artist, greater reflection on the process of elaboration, on his art and the artistic being.
e) It is understood, for the purposes of this project, that the Artistic Residencies have as main objectives: to offer an environment of immersion in research and creation for artists. The project Café Cultural / Residências Artísticas is a project that will enable research conditions (both for the public and for artists), through the exchange of multiple information, in the diversity of artistic styles of graffiti.
III. Artistic Languages
a) Artistic Synergy
Synergy is defined as the active and retroactive effect of the work or coordinated effort of various subsystems in performing a complex task or function.
We can redefine synergy as an integration of behaviors, mutuality, sharing of change for the benefit of the whole.
When one has the concomitant association of several devices executing certain functions that contribute to a coordinated action, provocation and sum of efforts towards the same end, one has synergy.
IV. Objectives
a) Provide an environment of immersion in research and artistic creations.
b) Provide a more intimate contact between artists and the public.
c) Provide residents with a culture of thinking about their status as an artist, an "artisan of art," a multiplier and a receiver of knowledge.
d) Experience creative processes through new challenges in partnership with other artists.
e) To stimulate the research to the resident artists through new experiences of creation and coexistence among themselves and the local public of the welcoming city.
f) To promote new artistic alternatives for the public.

VII - Registration
a) The candidate must register by completing the proper and duly signed application form, (penultimate page), which is available in this notice, together with the declaration, (last page), where it confirms that it is of in full accordance with the rules of this project of artistic residences Café Cultural / Residências Artísticas.
b) The applicant should send a portfolio file according to their artistic language (graffiti), and a copy of the proof of payment of the registration fee, in the amount of 20.00 euros until March 7, 2019.
c) The registration form, (penultimate page), signed declaration, portfolio and proof of payment of the registration fee, should be sent to cafecultural.portugal@gmail.com with the subject "Candidatura Café Cultural".

e) The digital portfolios will become part of the database of the Café Cultural / Residências Artísticas. No registration material or registration fee, regardless of whether the candidate has been selected or not, will be returned. Not even for bidders who sign up outside the registration deadline.
f) The selection of the subscribers will be made through analysis of the registration form and digital portfolio.
g) The vague artistic language, (graffiti), which is not fulfilled, may be replaced by another artistic language (music, theater, dance, etc.).
h) The Café Cultural / Residências Artísticas team reserves the right to invite artists who have participated or not in previous editions, both in the area of graffiti and in any other artistic language.
i) The decision of the Jury is unquestionable and unappealable.
j) Candidate registration will be confirmed through E-mails, (emails or whatsapp).
K) The list with the names of the artists selected for the respective residences will be on the website of Café Cultural / Residências Artísticas, on the facebook page, between the 12th and 15th of March 2019. It is possible that the list quits partially.
1 - Graffiti:
a) Photos of 03 (three) arts already done in mural or something similar and signed by the artist.
b) Summary artistic curriculum

IX - Regulation
a) Two Graffitis
Artists selected to participate in the Café Cultural / Residências Artísticas as residents will produce works in public spaces in the welcoming city of the project in places determined by the organization of the project. The creation project will be defined in agreement with the curatorship of the project and with the other resident artists.
X - Of the Materials
a) Materials for artistic production, such as paint and accessories for graffiti work, will be the responsibility of the production of the project. The production is not responsible for solar filters and other materials for personal use.
b) Artists selected in the area of graffiti will have a deadline for sending the list of necessary material indicated by the organization sent by e-mail. If the artist does not meet this deadline, it will automatically be replaced by another artist.
d) Café Cultural Residências Artísticas is not responsible for the purchase of extra items, referring to the list of material sent to the organization. Therefore, it is necessary to have absolute attention in the list of material prepared by the artist to be sent for the realization of the project.
XI - The obligations of resident artists
a) The residence of any resident artist shall not be allowed without the knowledge of the organization and the fulfillment of the specified times for the return of the same.
b) Collaboration with other artists, both professional and social.
c) Compliance with schedules established by the project management.
d) Compliance with meal times and professional activities.
e) The meal times must be fulfilled, otherwise they will not be able to dine at alternative times for the residence. And no accumulation of meals from one day to the next.
f) Generate interaction between audiences and artists.
g) The organization shall not be responsible for financing or borrowing money for any activity other than the established commitments.
h) The presence of people in the.
i) It will be necessary for the resident to report on the creation process if the organization deems it relevant.
j) It will be the responsibility of the residents to pay for the tickets to the place of residence, both national and international.
k) It will not be allowed to negotiate or produce parallel works to external invitation during the period of the artistic residence.
l) Artists selected in their respective months must remain in the residence until the end of the pre-determined period. It is necessary that the resident artists respect the regulation, otherwise, the management will have all the power to suspend of the residence that artist that is not in line with the standards of the project Café Cultural Residências Artísticas.
m) The organization of the Café Cultural / Residências Artísticas will not be responsible for any costs related to the passage of the selected artists.
n) The artist must be open to a way of working where experimentation and exchange of ideas are, first and foremost, the stimulus of production.
o) It will not be allowed political manifestation, allusions to the drug or any other subject that the organization understands that can cause mal-estar for public and other people involved.
XII - Of the Counterpart:
The Café Cultural / Residências Artísticas program is a project that is based on a principle of exchange: the artist has accommodation, food three times a day, transportation within the city where he resides, (if necessary, decided by the organization), transportation to pick up and bring the artists in the city of Porto at the airport, train station and bus station, (local boundary city of Porto). In return, he is required to invest in the creation of a collectively developed project (artist and curator). Whose artwork and workshops will be dedicated to the community for free.
In the case of Café Cultural / Artistic Residences, the project will offer the public an artistic finished product.
The resident artist will receive a certificate as a resident of the Café Cultura / Residências Artísticas and more certificates of the institutions in which to minister Workshops.
XIII - Of the Fences
1 - They will be prevented from applying for this Cultural / Artistic Residency Coffee Selection Notice:
a) Individuals, who do not have the purpose of performing artistic and cultural activities;
b) Legal Entity, which does not have the purpose of carrying out artistic and cultural activities;
c) Public servant of any parish belonging to the cities and institutions directly and indirectly linked to the Café Cultural / Residências Artísticas project.
d) Public servant of the chambers of the project Café Café / Artistic Residencies and parish councils attached to these Chambers.
e) Individuals with kinship relationships up to 2nd grade with members of the organizing team.
f) Entries filed outside the established period will be closed.
g) Documents with valid expiry dates will be forbidden.
h) Protocols shall be rejected as documents.
i) Presentations of more than one entry will be rejected.
j) The entries submitted in disagreement shall be rejected.
k) Reproduction and plagiarism of works by other artists will not be allowed for analysis of the selection of artists.
l) Artists under the age of eighteen may not participate in this application.
m) You will not be allowed to negotiate or produce works parallel to external calls during the period of residence.
n) Proposals for sketching and demonstration on the spot of artists of those who make apology for drugs, sex, alcohol, political opinion or any other image that might cause public malaise shall be prohibited. Should this occur, they are excluded from the project. These demonstrations are also prohibited during the period of residence, whether artist or verbally, as regards speeches and interviews.
o) When participating in the Café Cultural / Residências Artísticas, the artist must not infringe the rights of third parties, do not incur plagiarism, with total or partial reproduction, being responsible in the civil and penal sphere, for non-compliance with the norms in this regulation.
p) The presence, participation of people in the lodgings and in places of tests, studies, that are not directly connected to the project Café Cultural / Residências Artísticas is vetoed. Not even the participation of producers of resident artists will be allowed.
q) Artists will not be allowed to leave the institution premises without justification presented to the project organization. And this will have the power of decision regarding each case and cases that were left out.
XIV - From the selection
a) The written proposals will be submitted to a selection process by a committee composed of five members specialized in the artistic and cultural area.
c) All candidates will be notified by email of receipt of registration.
d) The act of registration implies automatic and full agreement with the Regulation and the Terms and Conditions of the Cultural Coffee / Artistic Residences of this public notice.
XV - Two results
a) The selection committee will draw results after the judging of the inscriptions observing the criteria of chapter XIII, the result of which will be made public through the official Facebook page Café Cultural / Residências Artísticas.
b) Selected artists will be notified, via telephone, email, Whatsapp, shortly after the result of the selection.
c) The selected artists will have to confirm the participation to email cafecultural.portugal@gmail.com after 24h. selection result. If this does not happen, it will be replaced by another artist chosen by the judging committee.
XVI - GENERAL PROVISIONS
a) - Cases not covered by this regulation will be resolved by the Organizing Committee.
b) The Organizing Committee will have the autonomy to refuse registrations that are not in accordance with the present Regulation.
c) - The Organizing Committee will be responsible for defining the size and location to be plotted by each artist.
d) Any alteration in the schedule due to unforeseeable circumstances or force majeure shall be duly notified to the nominating artists.
e) - The act of registration implies automatic and full compliance with the rules of this Regulation.
g) - The Organizing Committee will have autonomy to use any image that is linked to the Café Cultural / Residências Artísticas project for the dissemination of the same.
h) The Café Cultural / Residências Artísticas team reserves the right to invite and re-hire professionals who have participated or not in previous editions.
